The Triangle is home to a unusually large kindred domain partially because of the prosperous city teeming with masses and because of the Covenants cold war that had embraces like an arms race up until the eighties. The Masquerade in Th Triangle became dangerously thin. Missing persons were through the roof as embraces seemed nearly a nightly occurrence, “gang violence” was at an all time high as covenants feuds boiled over into the streets. There was so many kindred, so little direction.
Eyes were all over Raleigh, government agencies, media. The Masquerade was unraveling at the seems and it seemed nothing could stop it. Parents began to fear about thier children away at collages and suddenly The Triangle was not the gem of the south as it had always been. The Governor got involved and the police ranks swelled as cerfews were enforced to try and combat back the crime of the city. The Feds were called in as suspesions of terrror attacks or massive drug operations, with so much violence and so many missing something had to be going on.
The Invictus stuggled for control, but as the other covenants swelled they lost the grip on the cities. The Dragons claimed Durham and before the Invictus could reassert power the ever swell masses of the Carthines declared Chapel Hill a free city. The Trangle was broken and the Invitus clung to Raliegh as they closed ranks around thier gem. Everywhere inbetween became chaos as the power vaccum surged and kindred claimed domain whereever they could. Many of these small domains were cults of the Crone unchallenged in the chaos.
The Church was desperate needing number, but like the Invictus held back from embracing mortals for fear of Masquerade would be put endangered more then it already was. They allied themselves to the First Estate as they always had trusting in old bonds and oaths for loyalty, but as the Invictus consildated itself it left more and more Parishes of the church isolated and easy prey to the larger unified Crone. The Church soon learned it was on its own.
They turned inward testing and embracing ghouls and long term servants of the church whom had no mortal lives of substance or that peaceful accidents could be arranged. Marcus Brown was one of those ghouls. A slave during the Civil war and with the coming of the free world a ghouled servant of the Church. He as perfect canidate for the embrace having seen so much and such a strong faith. He could be the one that connected with Neonates because he would be one, but old enough and in service to the church to keep a firm grip.
When he was baptized with the blood he saw a vision and was given a purpose. Marcus awoke from the embrace, tears of blood in his eyes as he began to tell his vision of God and The Triangle burning. Kindred and kin had to be put in their place. His will be done. He set the cities on fire with sermon and torch. Marcus led a crusade across the Triangle cutting a ash laid swath indiscriminately no clan nor covenant that was not of the Church met final death.
The crusade blind sided all of the Triangle the under dog, the Church who had been so quite so defeated, the covenants scrambled, but already war torn from their internal strife could do little more then survive the onslaught of the bold coterie. No one or thing was sacred. Ally or enemy, havens or sacred sites of both Ordo and Crone were set up in flames in single night as Marcus lead his fellow neonates in organized strike all across The Triangle.
The month of arson continued as Marcus found more followers and the fire spread. Kindred who did not knell to the church fled to the chaos that was the areas between the points of the Triangle many taking up refuge in Lowe's Grove quickly crowding the cities streets as they continued their conflicts for supremacy.
Brother Marcus though was not done. He had gained a following, kindred of the church looked upon him and aspired to have such faith. Soon he deemed the church weak, unworthy of being the Wolves of Heaven or how else could this of happen in the first place? He turned inward burning the impurities from the church seeking out the weak among the wolves, the corrupt among the pure and all those without true faith. Within the year he was Arch Bishop, or as titles go in the South simply, Pastor Marcus. He tends to his congregation as a whole with his eyes on the nights ahead. Marcus focuses on his visions and what the Angles share with him as he prepares the kindred to serve the will of God. He rarely has time for individual squabbles between kindred or even covenant. Each covenant has its domain and a Bishop to guide them. An appointed member of the Church to be a true head of the domain or so was the plan. Not all kindred are as strong in the faith as he.
Pastor Marcus's obsession with his vision and the prophecy he claims whispered in his ears from the lips of God keeps him aloof from the city tonight. He can't see whats in front of him as the city he conquered trembles with quite upheaval. The Crone indignation festers as they demand freedom of religious tyranny, The Catherine's seethe as they demand freedom of oppression, The Ordo Dracul ire for freedom to peruse their accession and The Invictus scheme to return to their throne crushing all others freedoms in their wake.
